Why does Apple’s apple have a bite out of it? It is so that the logo is not confused with another type of fruit. The logo was originally multi-coloured, with a the rainbow design with differently coloured horizontal bars. This ‘rainbow apple’ logo was used from 1976. The monochromatic apple that we are now familiar with has been used since 1998.

In the first quarter of 2011, Google released an algorithmic update for its search engine. The goal of the update, termed the Farmer/Panda Update, was a direct attempt to ‘weed out’ content farms (websites with high-volume and low-quality content, often obtaining their content from other sites), and those trying to manipulate the search engine in order to rank well in Google.
